THE FACTORY BLOG
NOTES FROM LIVE PROJECTS
This is where our SEO, paid media and development teams write up what actually happened on client work — the symptom, the diagnosis, the fix, and the part we would do differently next time. It is written for practitioners, and for the people who have to approve what practitioners want to do.
/WHAT WE
WRITE ABOUT
All three teams contribute, so the range is wide — but every post comes out of work someone here has actually shipped.
- Search visibility diagnostics — why a page that looks fine is not ranking, and how to tell an indexing problem from a relevance problem before you rewrite anything.
- Paid media structure and measurement — account architecture, feed quality, audience segmentation, and conversion tracking that still reports honestly under consent restrictions.
- Analytics and attribution — GA4, Tag Manager, server-side considerations, and the gap between what a platform reports and what your finance team can reconcile.
- Platform-specific work — the recurring traps in Magento, WordPress, WooCommerce and Shopify builds, and what each platform makes hard that the others do not.
- Web performance and reliability — what actually moves load times on a real stack, as opposed to what a synthetic score rewards.
- The working relationship — scoping, reporting cadence, how to brief an agency, and how to tell early that an engagement is going wrong.
/WHAT A POST
LOOKS LIKE
Same three-part shape almost every time, because that is the order in which the work happens.
The situation, with its constraints
What the site or account looked like, what the business needed from it, and the limits everyone was working inside — budget, platform, deadline, or an existing decision nobody was going to reverse. Advice without constraints is not advice.
What we changed, and why that
The specific change, and the reasoning that made it the first thing to try rather than the fifth. Where we chose between two defensible options, we say what the other one was.
What we would check next
The measurement that would confirm or kill the conclusion, and the failure mode we would watch for. A post that ends at “and it worked” is missing the useful half.
/WHAT THIS BLOG
IS NOT
It is not a news feed. Platform announcements get covered in SEO Updates, and only once we have something to say about what they mean for a real account.
It is not a lead magnet in disguise. Posts are complete on the page — there is no gate, no email wall, and no deliberately missing final step that you have to book a call to hear.
It is not anonymous benchmarking. We do not publish a client’s traffic, spend or revenue figures, in any form, without that client’s written permission. Where a post needs numbers we do not have permission to share, it is written without them rather than with invented ones.
NOTHING HERE YET
ON YOUR PROBLEM?
Posts appear on this page as they are published. If what you are dealing with is not covered yet, describe it — you will get an answer from whoever on the team owns that discipline, and it may well become the next post.
- SEO Guides — the structured version of the same material
- PPC Guides — account structure, measurement and scaling
- Contact — phone, email and the direct route to a specialist
- All Insights — the full index of guides, tools and updates
